Our Spirituality

Koinonia John the Baptist is characterised by a KeKaKo spirituality lived in the manner of John the Baptist, the one who announces and points to Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. It promotes a new mentality that passes from desiring an evangelised Church to being an evangelising Church; from ‘explaining’ Jesus to presenting a living Person who acts through the Holy Spirit.

KE – kerygma is the proclamation of Jesus: dead, risen and glorified. For us, this means being witnesses of our own personal encounter with the Lord Jesus, witnesses in the same manner as John the Baptist. 

KA – charism, which means ‘gift of grace’. The gift par excellence is the Holy Spirit, who gives us the charisms for confirming the announced Word and for building up community. For us, this means living and being driven by the Spirit of Pentecost in the use of charisms and in an atmosphere of joy like John the Baptist, who was filled with the Holy Spirit from the time he was in the womb of his mother Elizabeth. 

KO – koinonia or communion. It leads from a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus to encountering brothers and sisters who are part of the one body and where everyone is mutually united in love. For us, this means living friendship as a single, united people, animated by faithfulness and generous service just like John the Baptist, who knew how to give his life up to the point of martyrdom.
